The Match, Directed by Kurt Spenrath
Canada | 00:15:00
(DOCUMENTARY) The Match follows two performers in a struggling independent wrestling promotion, the Prairie Wrestling Alliance. It explores the impact that their vocation has on their personal lives, and the psychology behind why audiences are drawn to this pseudo-blood sport. The characters are iconic, yet real: Nizar Watfa aka. Sheikh Abdul Shibaz, is a Muslim immigrant that wants to integrate. He's from the small town of Lamont, Alberta , famous for its Ukrainian heritage. And then there's Dustin Meyer, aka. Hollywood Dustin Adonis. He's a rural redneck from Eston, Saskatchewan, that wants to cut loose. And they are going to fight for the championship belt. However, Nizar’s father must overcome his distaste for what he sees as an embarrassing and racist portrayal of his culture. Will Nizar's dad finally attend a match? Will he disown his son? Will the beloved Hollywood beat The Evil Sheikh? Find out in The Match.
Moto Borgatoro, Directed by Roberto Serrini
United States | 00:07:45
(DOCUMENTARY) Part documentary, part pulp action film, all love and pure passion: "Moto Borgatoro" follows curmudgeon/savant mechanic Peter Boggia and the birth of his custom 1979 Moto Guzzi Le Mans into creation.
Mind you this film is not your normal bike build movie by design; no grinder sparks, no silhouette shots, no dramatic music. Been there seen that. This one is pure adrenaline, and hopefully tightens your pants like riding the bike would.
The film has received praise from the limited amount of industry people given the opportunity to experience. Filmmaker and Moto-enthusist alike claim that it's got "Fellini roots with Tarantino fruits". We love praise that rhymes.
Love bikes, hate bike, or know nothing about them, this film is juicy enough for anyone to quickly fall in love with Peter and his bad-ass machine.
Over/Under, Directed by Logan Norton
United States | 00:12:00
An injury-prone high school basketball star gets his chance to play in college, but at a price.
Ron Taylor: Dr. Baseball, Directed by Drew Taylor and Matthew Taylor
Canada | 00:17:00
(DOCUMENTARY) RON TAYLOR: DR. BASEBALL is the story of an 11-year major League pitcher, who after winning two world championships with the 1964 St. Louis Cardinals and the 1969 Miracle Mets, embarked on a USO tour through Vietnam that would change his life. After visiting field hospitals, Ron devoted the rest of his life to medicine, enrolling in Medical School at 35 and eventually becoming the team physician for the Toronto Blue Jays. Through interviews with former teammates and friends, his two sons uncover the course of their father’s life.
Touch the Sky with Alex Zanardi, Directed by Tim Hahne
Germany | 00:03:14
(DOCUMENTARY) This is a short, but very intimate portrait of Alex Zanardi, the former Formula 1 driver and winner of the American Champ Car Series. Alex was already a star, when he had his almost fatal accident at the Lausitzring in Germany. He lost his legs, but not his attitude. Alex Zanardi came back and did the impossible: He won races in the World Touring Car Championship, two gold medals at the Paralympics in London 2012 and just recently added two more hand bike world titles!
Undefeated, Directed by Nathan Willis
