Film Society Of Little Rock Partners With Jeff Nichols’ Arkansas Cinema Society
The Film Society of Little Rock is proud to partner with the newly launched Arkansas Cinema Society, chaired by Little Rock native and award-winning Director Jeff Nichols. Among the members of the ACS board of directors are Oscar-winning actress Mary Steenburgen and "Quarry" writer/creator Graham Gordy, both from Arkansas, as well as producer Kathryn Tucker who will also serve as executive director of the organization.
FSLR and ACS share the mission of expanding film culture, and helping to support and grow the community of filmmakers in "The Natural State". FSLR is excited about the new opportunities Jeff Nichols and the ACS team will provide for film lovers in the State of Arkansas and we look forward to working alongside them.
The Film Society of Little Rock is currently in its 3rd year of existence. FSLR produces two film festivals each year: Fantastic Cinema & Craft Beer Festival (May 3-6) and Kaleidoscope LGBT Film Festival (August 11-19), both celebrating their 3rd anniversary in 2017 . The Film Society also provides year-round film screenings and has recently partnered with Kodak to provide workshops for local filmmakers with the desire to learn how to “shoot on film”. FSLR is especially proud of its strong ties to the Arkansas film community, an ongoing partnership with the University of Central Arkansas School of Digital Filmmaking and a new partnership with the Arkansas Arts Center to program multiple film series to compliment rotating art exhibits throughout the year.
The state of Arkansas has a large and diverse network of film festivals which include Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival (celebrating 26 years in October of 2017 as the Oldest all-documentary film festival in North America), Ozark Foothills FilmFest (16 yrs), Fayetteville Film Fest (9 yrs), El Dorado Film Festival (4 years), Royal Film Festival (4 yrs), Bentonville Film Festival (3 yrs), FSLR’s Fantastic Cinema & Craft Beer Film Festival (3 yrs) and Kaleidoscope LGBT Film Festival (3 yrs), along with other festival events that support Arkansas filmmakers, spreading an appreciation for film culture across our state . We are thrilled to announce that the Arkansas Cinema Society will be joining this impressive list!
